Leh is a city in Indian Union Territory of Ladakh in the disputed Kashmir region. It is the capital of Ladakh since the Medieval Period.
Arrive at Leh airport ( Kushok Bakula Rinpoche ) by morning flight . This flight is one of the most sensational flights in the world. On a clear day from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum and on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. You would take a little time to settle in and acclimatize since you have gone from a relatively low elevation to over 11,000 feet! After Breakfast leave to visit Sham Valley and start sightseeing starting with Hall Of Fame (Museum Constructed by India Army) near Leh is worth a visit for Every India. Post visit proceed further to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib Nestled deep in the Himalayas, at an altitude of 3600 Mtrs about 22 Kms from Leh it was constructed in memory of Guru Nanak Dev ji. A drive of another 4 km shall take you to Magnetic Hill which defies the law of gravity. As you move ahead from Magnetic Hills, just before Nimmu Village, there comes Sangam- Confluence Of Two Rivers Indus River coming from Tibet (left) and Zanskar River coming from Zanskar Valley (right). Zanskar River is known for its famous Chadar Trek. Afterwards visit Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa a top of the Hill to experience panoramic view of Leh city and high snow camped mountains. Later we drive back to Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602 Mtrs / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 Ft. above sea level. Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our Camp / Hotel in Hunder for Overnight stay. In the evening you can walk around the tiny villages to see how the locals live in this part of the world. A visit to a Ladakhi home can be arranged (On Request subject to availability and there could be charges applicable). Overnight Stay at the Camp or Hotel.
After early breakfast depart for a LEH Via Pangong Lake Via Sheyok river over the Chang-la(5475 Mts. ) the highest lake in Ladakh and is flanked by massive peaks over 6500 Mts. High. The lake is 150 Kms. It is only 4 Kms long. At its widest and extends almost in a straight line, way into Tibet, One rarely feels so close to nature and environment and the scenery is unforgettable. After early breakfast full day sightseeing of Shay, Thicksey & Hemis : Shay was the summer Palace of Ladakhi Kings and is where you can see the 36Ft. high statue of Buddha made of copper and covered with gold. Thicksey : The twelve storied monastery of Thicksey is situated in the most prominent of positions, lies on an island Mountain. Finally visit; Hems : Farthest away from Leh, this is the wealthiest Monastery in Ladakh belonging to the Red Sect - it is here each summer that plays are held and Ladakhi from all parts of the country will visit Hemis.
